The Methodist Tax Justice Network(MTJN) has launched a new campaign which begins on Ash Wednesday with a demonstration outside Mondelez International's corporate entrance in Bournville, Birmingham.
The group wants chocolate eaters to go elsewhere over Lent and Easter as well as writing to Modolez explaining why they're taking this action.
Matthew Jones, Coordinator of MTJN, said of the campaign, "We believe that Mondelez UK are failing to fulfil their social duty, by avoiding UK corporation tax which helps pay for the infrastructure and services that help them make massive profits in this country.
"Furthermore, they are causing great damage to their reputation, and bringing shame on the name of Cadbury, a company which is still regarded as a British institution and was once a standard bearer for corporate social responsibility.
"Tax should not be optional for big companies any more than for individuals, and we ask all who believe this to join us in boycotting products from these Bad Eggs for Lent, Easter and beyond."
Back in December, reports in The Financial Times and The Guardian showed that despite making profits of £96.5m through Cadbury products alone, Mondolez UK had paid nothing in UK corporation tax through a contentious 'tax-efficient structure'.
Responding to the criticism, Mondelez International said: "We comply with UK tax law and, as with all global businesses, pay tax based on the laws of the country we operate in.
"We have invested over £200m into the future of our UK business over the past five years and we contribute £1.06bn to the UK economy."
MTJN is urging chocolate eaters to buy alternative Fairtrade Easter Eggs instead of Cadbury eggs this year.
