New neighbour Simon Cowell 'finds it hilarious he might bump into the pope'

It is understood the reality television show judge and producer has bought a seven-bed mansion close to the diplomatic office of the Holy See in Wimbledon, south west London.

Referring to the 59 year old, a source told The Sun newspaper: "He finds it hilarious that he might bump into Pope Francis."

Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI have both stayed at the Apostolic Nunciature to Great Britain building on Parkside.

Cowell - who fathered a son, Eric, with girlfriend American model Lauren Silverman - is keen to move out of central London, according to The Sun.

The media mogul has been the target of two break-ins, including a stalker hiding on a shelf in his walk-in wardrobe in 2012.

The couple are going to splash out £1.3 million on renovations at their new property outside Zone 1.

The source added: "Lauren has hired a team of interior designers to make it super-light, clean and minimalist."
