The National Day of Prayer for the Police is being held by the Christian Police Association (CPA) in the UK which has been using social media to encourage more people to get involved.
Prayer points include praying that police "would have opportunities to spend quality time with their families, and balance work and life" and that God would "build bridges ...for police and communities to work together."
Speaking with Premier, Lee Russell from the CPA, said: "I've prayed before going on operational incidents. I know many officers do. I've prayed afterwards. I've prayed with families when it's been appropriate to do so."
Pray for the strategic decisions that police leaders make in these very challenging times. Pray for health, strength, and peace.#ndpp16

Lee added: "When you're getting into situation like death and serious incidents, people do start to think about faith.
"Just to spend one or two minutes thinking about police officers and staff; think about their safety. Think about what they're doing on the streets 24/7, trying to protect and serve the community ...bringing offenders to justice."
