He told the Mail on Sunday magazine Event: "I want to get every church in the country on Wi-Fi.
"Once you do that, the church becomes the centre of the community again.
"They should go back to the medieval traditions, which is that the nave of the church is always used for local businesses.
When asked where the money would come from for the plan he said: "Well, I am going to get involved, but the Government have indicated that they would pay for the idea of putting the Wi-Fi in."
Andrew Lloyd Webber is famous for stage shows like Cats and Phantom of the Opera.
Portsmouth Cathedral has recently installed Wi-Fi into the building, Revd Canon Peter Leonard told Premier's Desmond Busteed that he's hoping the new installation will increase visitor numbers, he said: "We're on the edge of the and with the exception of pubs, which are great; this is the community building in this area.
"So to come in and to be able to have a coffee in the Cathedral, in stunning surroundings and log on, check emails for your lunchtime; it's going to be a really useful thing to do."
