Theological college announces restructure

The board have said the changes aren't linked to cut-backs and are being made to 'expand its ability to deliver that training to more people in more locations at a cost that they can afford'.

As part of the restructure, the current premises on the outskirts of Gloucester will be sold and a new base will open in the heart of the city centre.

The changes will see:

- courses delivered at different locations across the country
- an end to the current undergraduate programme
- the closing of Redcliffe's large residential centres (accommodation will be provided at the different UK locations)
- fees remain the same with the intention of making courses more affordable in future

Speaking about the changes, Marion Knell, Chair of Trustees, said: "The board and staff have been working towards this significant change for some time, through a detailed review process and we are excited to begin to unveil those plans today."

Redcliffe was founded in 1892 and says throughout its history it has repeatedly embraced change in order to respond effectively to the call of God to equip women and men for cross-cultural ministry.

In recent years, a number of theological training centres have announced significant changes to operations. Some have closed, some have made cut backs.

This year, International Christian College in Glasgow will close while Anglican centre, St John's in Nottingham will no longer offer full-time residential courses.

The issue of theological training was covered recently in Premier Christianity magazine and can be read read here.
