Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was found near a church hall in Leeds.

Fire crews made the discovery at St Augustine's Wrangthorn Church Hall in Hyde Park Terrace whilst dealing with a bin fire at 7pm on Saturday night.

Detective Superintendent Simon Atkinson of West Yorkshire Police said: "Inquiries are obviously at a very early stage and we are yet to confirm the circumstances of this person's death."

Police said it had not been confirmed whether the victim was male or female.

The two men, aged 37 and 50, both from the Leeds area, are being held in custody.
