Christian charity issues famine warning for Somalia
There's a warning millions of people are facing a famine in Somalia.
Christian children's charity World Vision says drought is already killing people and a crisis is looming on a catastrophic scale.
It's appealing for £15.1 million to meet the needs of 530,000 of the most severely affected people.
Stefanie Glinski recently visited Somalia. Speaking to Premier, she said: "It's heartbreaking.
"Everywhere you go its very dry, hot, dusty.
"People don't have anything to eat, they don't have crops that they've been growing mainly due to them having no water at all.
She says people are slowly losing everything.
"I met a farmer and the first thing he showed me was all the dead animals that he had," she said. "There were piles and piles of goats that he was burning.
"He had been walking for days with his familuy, trying to find water.
"[When] they eventually did, by that time, half of the animals had already died."
The UN has warned that Somalia is officially in a state of "pre-famine" with the number in need of humanitarian assistance rising to 6.2 million.
If famine is declared, it would be the second in just six years.
