Russian leadership labelled a 'crazy regime' by Lithuanian church leader

Irmantas Pinkoraitis, President of the Baptist Union of Lithuania, visited England this week to participate in a conference of Baptist ministers from the North of England.

During his visit he raised concerns that if the international community doesn't take action, his country could become the next to experience this sort of conflict.

Speaking to Premier, he said: "We hear on the news, lies and propaganda. You have to say the rhetoric is very similar to how it was in the soviet era. This is crazy regime...you just never know.

"We pray that God would really stop this craziness. Reading media, reading what the politicians are saying and different journalists; you can see there is a lot of worrying signs that it's possible that after Ukraine, we could be next."

His comments come as Russia says it expects all sides in the eastern Ukraine conflict to respect Sunday's ceasefire.

Eleven service personnel are reported dead in fierce fighting since the deal was announced yesterday.

The Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe is sending 350 observers to check the truce is observed.

European Union leaders have warned Russia it faces more sanctions if it doesn't comply with the truce agreement.
