Several dead in twin Nigeria suicide attack

The female suicide bombers killed at least 21 people in the north-eastern city of Maiduguri.

It's reported one woman blew herself up and whilst people tried to treat the wounded the second bomb exploded.

"While the people were trying to help the injured, the second bomb blasted," witness Sani Adamu told Reuters. "I saw lots of bodies".

Nigerian authorities have so far refused to make any comment on the attack but Islamist group Boko Haram is being blamed.

Earlier this month the President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Nigeria told Premier he was worried about the situation in his country.

Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama warned the world must do more to halt Boko Haram's progress.

He said: "There are so many thousands of displace people who are taking refuge in the cathedral premises in Yola and then the Bishop of Magaduiri will tell you how many parishes have been closed because people have been displaced and the villages taken over by Boko Haram."
