Miguel Pajares who's 75, was taken off a plane on a stretcher by health workers in protective clothing.
He was carried in an isolation chamber for his journey from the Liberian capital to Madrid.
Meanwhile, in the United States the wife of a Christian doctor who's being treated for the deadly Ebola virus says he is in "good spirits".
Dr Kent Brantly's also being held in isolation in the US after being flown from Liberia where he picked up the illness working for the charity Samaritan's Purse.
Amber Brantly said: "I have been able to see Kent every day, and he continues to improve,
"I am thankful for the professionalism and kindness of Dr. Ribner and his team at Emory University Hospital. I know that Kent is receiving the very best medical treatment available."
A special centre has been set up in Atlanta in partnership with the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Thomas Frieden, director of the organisation said: "It's encouraging that he seems to be improving.
"That is really important, and we are hoping he will continue to improve."
Another missionary with the charity, Nancy Writebol, is also being held at the unit.
President of Samaritan's Purse Franklin Graham said: "We thank God that they are alive and now have access to the best care in the world."
"We are extremely thankful for the help we have received from the State Department, the CDC, the National Institute of Health, WHO and, of course, Emory Hospital.
"Please keep praying and thank God for all He is doing."
