Meet the 2019 Judges

Get to know the judging panel for this year's Love Britain + Ireland Awards 2019.

♦ Russell Rook


Russell is one of the founders of Chapel St, the chair of the Chapel St Community Fund and a trustee of the Chapel St Community Schools Trust. He is passionate about the power of relationships to transform lives and communities. This vision and belief is at the heart Chapel St’s mission and ethos, informing our work in education and wellbeing and fuelling our partnerships with churches, faith groups and community organisations.

Russell previously worked with The Salvation Army where he oversaw the organisation’s work among young people in the U.K. and Ireland. He travels widely, speaking and writing on issues of public policy, faith and community and has recently co-authored, “For Good,” a report on the role of the church and the future of the welfare state. In his professional life, Russell currently works as a consultant helping senior leaders in politics, faith, business and charity, to work more effectively together.

 

♦ Kate Parminter 


Kate Parminter was created a life peer in July 2010. She is Deputy Group Leader of the Liberal Democrats in the House of Lords. She is the party spokesperson on the Environment.

She was a member of the House of Lords EU Select Committee and Sub-Committee on agriculture, fisheries, environment and energy until May 2015 & a member of the House of Lords’ Select Committee on National Policy for the Built Environment in 2015. She is a member of the Select Committee on the Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act.

From 1990-1998 she headed the Public Affairs for the RSPCA, during which time she chaired the Campaign for the Protection of Hunted Animals which helped to ban hunting. In 1998 she became Chief Executive of CPRE, the Campaign to Protect Rural England, the leading conservation campaigning charity which Kate led for nearly six years.

 

♦ Nims Obunge MBE


Nims is Pastor of Freedoms Ark and CEO of The Peace Alliance which works with faith, community, statutory and business organisations.

He chaired the London Criminal Justice Board Advisory Group and has advised the government on social justice issues including crime and inequality.

He pioneered the Week of Peace and is a Deputy Lieutenant for Greater London.

 

♦ Stuart Keir 


Stuart is the CEO of the Audacious Foundation, working regularly with both Local and National government to bring transformation and leadership in many areas of society.

He is one of the Pastors of !Audacious, a multi-site Church, in the North of England. Stuart travels extensively speaking & coaching for Charities, Churches and Businesses on issues of leadership and transformation.


♦ Ruth Jackson


Ruth is editor of Premier Youth and Children’s Work magazine. She previously worked at CBBC’s Blue Peter before moving to Ravi Zacharias International Ministries, where she helped set up the youth apologetics strand Reboot. Ruth recently contributed to Hope Rising 365, a book for young women. She also plays bass in all-girl rock ‘n roll band The Daisy Chains.
